Volcanoes National Park Tour

Tour 3 nights/4 days

Day 1: Kigali /Volcanoes National Park

  • Upon arrival at Kigali/airport, meet and greet our representative. Time permitting, Kigali City tour; including a stop at the Kigali genocide museum.

  • Lunch at one of the local restaurants

  • Afternoon drive to Volcanoes National Park for check-in, dinner, and overnight.

  • Accommodation: Mountain Gorilla View Lodge /Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge/ Bisate Lodge

Day 2: Golden Monkey trek/Twin Lakes

  • After an early breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters, where you are assigned a gorilla-tracking group.

  • 07:00 am: Reporting time at Visitor Information/registration Centre at Park office is. After a briefing by your trackers, drive to the trailhead for the start of this amazing adventure. Your exhilarating trek follows the footsteps of the rare and critically endangered Mountain Gorillas.

  • This is another adventure, tracking the "Little Primates" of the Virungas, the Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus Kandti), listed By the IUC as endangered because of their small numbers.

  • After your trek, the driver will be waiting at the base. Descend to your lodge for lunch.

  • (Take a picturesque drive to view the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo or immerse in the local lifestyles with a well-deserved visit to the nearby cultural village).

  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking

  • After an early breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarters, where you are assigned a gorilla-tracking group.

  • 07:00 am: Reporting time at Visitor Information/registration Centre at Park office is. After a briefing by your trackers, drive to the trailhead for the start of this amazing adventure. Your exhilarating trek follows the footsteps of the rare and critically endangered Mountain Gorillas.

  • Entering the national park, you are instantly immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest, alive with colorful butterflies and hypnotic bird calls. You can see the magnificent Virunga Mountains peeking through gaps in the canopy. Weave through overhanging vines, moss-covered hagenia, and giant lobelias until your experienced guide leads you through the forest to a gorilla family.

  • Upon sighting the gorillas, immerse yourself with them for a magical hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting, and raising their families.

  • Return to your lodge for lunch, followed by a scenic drive back to Kigali.

NB: Based on the location of the gorillas, trekking may take up to 8 hours of hiking through a lush jungle with uneven terrain, slippery slopes, and steep, muddy trails!

Day 4: Kigali/Departure

  • Breakfast at your leisure, souvenir shopping, and later transfer to the airport for your flight out.
